The Day Has Finally Come! Time to bring him/her home!

I'm bringing home
my first foster fur-baby today.

For the past week, we've been reading dog guide books, watching non-stop videos of the Dog whisperer, listening to Cesar Millan's book "Be the Pack Leader," comparing dog food ingredients, purchasing dog supplies, preparing the dog's area, and probably bombarding everyone with questions on dog care.

The Agenda for today:

  • Pack the doggy bag.
    • blanket
    • little waste bags
    • 2 toys
    • treats
    • lint roller
    • brush/comb
    • leash/collar
    • wipes
    • etc.
  • Go to Petco and pick up the dog food.
    • We've chosen the Wellness Super5Mix Small Breed Adult Health Dog Food for its ingredients and great reviews for small dogs.
    • It does cost more than what you'll find available in Walmart but this is an investment for the dog's health for his/her future family.
  • Maybe check out the toy aisle for some tennis balls or chew toy.
  • Go to the West Orange Veterinary Hospital to meet him/her.
  • Establish a bond.
  • Not sure if we'll walk there to bond on when we come home before we enter the house.
  • Wipe his/her feet before coming into the house.
  • Let the dog relieve him/herself before going into the house if they have to. Introduce the dog to his/her area. (Half of the living room for now.)
  • Play.
  • Take outside.
  • Let him/her relieve him/herself.
  • Wipe his/her feet before coming into the house.
  • Nap in crate.
  • Wake up, go for a walk, and let him/her relieve him/herself.
  • Wipe his/her feet before coming into the house.
  • Feed dinner.
  • Take outside.
  • Let him/her relieve him/herself.
  • Wipe his/her feet before coming into the house.
  • Play in her playpen.
  • Take outside.
  • Let him/her relieve him/herself.
  • Wipe his/her feet before coming into the house.
  • Brush teeth?
  • Bed Time.
We'll see how this goes according to the plan.

I'll post photos ASAP! :]
