Dakota went outside!

Yay! Dakota went #1 and #2 outside!

We felt like we were on a roll! So we took out Jonah. He already did 4 #2s during the day... but nothing came at night. But we're still excited about Dakota! :]

Day 8 with Dakota and Jonah

Dakota:

We had fun outside on our semi-walk. I didn't pressure her to walk too much. I just wanted her to enjoy being outside. Back massages in the shade. She enjoyed the wind passing through her hair. We didn't get to get her to eliminate outside but we're watching her to see when she circles and sniffs the floor, that's her pee dance.

Jonah:
He may have gotten kennel cough and so we separated him from Dakota. He's upset with that and so whimpers from time to time. They're two rooms apart but they can still see each other. I shush him every time he whimpers or barks. Just so he knows that it's not an acceptable behavior. Dakota seems fine with the separation. She enjoys being spoiled.

I got great shots of Dakota today. Jonah didn't want to participate in the photoshoot today since he wasn't feeling well. We gave him honey to soothe his throat. He's on antibiotics from the vet. Plus he's going to get to go to a "sauna" after our hot showers so that it'll with his breathing.

Jonah is home with Dakota!

We are so overjoyed that I'll keep this blog short. We caught him in a humane box trap from Polk county's animal control. We took him right away to the West Orange Vet Hospital on Stoneybrook. They were amazing! They bathed him. Removed 35+ ticks! Gave him his medicine and we were on our way home!!

Oh my gosh! You should've seen Dakota! She was so excited, running around, and wagging her tail!

Now they're snuggling together and enjoying each others' company!

Dakota's 5th Day and Jonah's update

Dakota:

She's been busy with the Doggie Training pads. Completely soaked the pad in the morning. Went out to get the Human Box Trap for Jonah and came home to a couple #2s on the pad. We were so happy because we were so confused on where she would go and apparently she held it in for 4 days! Well she would go a little bit before but this time it was... "wow, that came out of her?" that moments.

Other than that, she's being her Dakota self. Just laying on her bed. Enjoying the view. I give her little massages when I brush her hair. She just stays there like a good doggie.

Jonah:
I wish I had a rodeo clown living with me. If I did, we would've caught him a long time ago! I ran into 2 neighbor's backyards and down 3 blocks before he ran into the forest/trees/vacant lots covered with vegetation. He keeps getting closer. I think it's because I left a trail of food to my house.

But this time, we're prepared! We went all the way to Winter Haven to the Polk County's Animal Control to pick up the Human Box trap for dogs. It's huge! Bill the officer helped us with tying it on top of our car. The top of the car is pretty scratched up already. We had it lay on a cardboard box and used nylon string we got from Lowe's/Ikea to strap it down onto our car. He used a "trucker knot" to strap it down. Good to know because we'll have to do it when we return the trap.

We can keep it for up to 7 days but we hope that we can catch him as soon as possible! We used Dakota's #1 soaked training pad to bring him in. We used wet stinky dog food and a sugar water mix to entice him. We hope that we don't catch any raccoons or the neighbors' dogs!

We're checking it every hour or so to see if we caught him. We really hope to get him before it rains! Florida rain can be quite dangerous especially when you're a 15 lb dog. Look at our set up!
