New Videos: Pre and Post Tabby's operation

I just wanted to show you Tabby's energy before and after losing her arm.

The post video is only a couple days after her operation but I know she'll be back to her spunky self soon enough!

Tabby's broken arm has been amputated

Our poor sweetie went through so much yesterday. She had her arm amputated, was sedated, and couldn't move that much after her surgery. But the worst part of all was that she was so hungry!

She didn't eat for a whole day since she couldn't eat before surgery and that anesthesia made her too numb to move her jaw that she couldn't eat! I heard her belly growling as I slowly poured water into her mouth. Once she got a little bit of control of her tongue, I gave her peanut butter and tried wet food and smashing up dry food for some reason. I just wanted her to eat! But I found out that she wouldn't be able to do so until the next day. :[

She cried if she thought we weren't there. We held her like a newborn, cuddled up in a towel the WOVH gave us probably a donation from wonderful person. She just kept looking at us to make sure that we were there. It was a long night. She didn't seem to be in that much pain; having pain killers help. But she's a strong pup and I know she'll be back to tackling "One Eye" Willie soon!

Meet "One Eye" Willie- the Shih Tzu

An adorable white/cream colored, male Shih Tzu available for adoption
through the Florida Little Dog Rescue.
He's only 7lbs so far! We'll plump him up for sure!
He's friendly and has a sweet smile.
He loves napping all day and being close to you.

He came to us with one eye, an ear infection and bad teeth.
We took care of it all; he still has one eye but it's a healthy eye!

I would name him Mike, Mike Wazowski, or course from Disney's Monster's Inc.

Tabby Update:

We took Tabby to see the vet yesterday. :[

Here's our plea:

"Meet Tabby the 6 month old, 6lb, yorkie. Animal Control called us this week with a plea for help! Tabby was brought in, and obviously in pain. She currently has a broken "arm" and she didn't let that stop her from breaking our hearts. One of our amazing volunteers immediately went over and whisked her off to the vet. We were hopeful it was a small fracture and her leg could be fixed.
Sadly, after evaluations by our orthopaedic vets, they have determined her leg can not be saved. She will remain in her splint to ease her pain until next week, when she will have surgery to amputate her leg.  She won't let that keep her down for long though!
She's a playful and very curious pup that loves to follow you until the cows come home. She's definitely a lap dog that loves to give you kisses to show her affection. She loves rope toys, tiny tennis balls, and socks! She uses her splint as a hockey stick to play with the tennis balls. She has beautiful white teeth that make it seem as if she's smiling at you. She has so much spirit for a quiet little pup.
Please consider donating towards her surgery and follow-up care. She deserves a pain-free amazing life. Help us make her dreams come true!"

Day three with Tabby the yorkie with the broken arm

Since Tabby is a puppy, we're trying to introduce her to different things. Today we tried different noises and riding around in the car.

Good news:
She's not afraid of:
Thunderstorms, music, playing dress up, car rides, vacuums, and cameras. (I ran out of ideas.)

Here are some photos of our week so far!

"He didn't make it"

"He didn't make it," a dear friend tells me.
I went deaf. I'm not even sure what was said afterwards. All I could say was "okay." Repeating it over and over. There wasn't enough air in me to push out anything else besides the tears pouring down my face. My mind went blank.

"He didn't make it."

Jonah, my sweet teddy bear, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I can't be there with you right now. I'm sorry that I couldn't save you. I'm sorry if you thought I abandoned you.

I should have been there. I should have flown down earlier to find you. I keep thinking of how scared and confused you were. How you probably thought I abandoned you. Or maybe you were searching for me. Then I think of Dakota and how heartbroken she must be. I know that your owner is in pain too. We all are.

I want to see you again. I want to be able to say goodbye.

I just hear the ticking of the clock.
I feel my lungs gasping for air.
I can't forget. I won't forget.

"He didn't make it."

Jonah, my sweet submissive boy, would follow Dakota and me around. He was in love with us ladies and was fine with following his heart. He loved to snuggle with me in bed. He loved to rest his head on Dakota when he took naps.  He seemed more like a scaredy cat/chicken than a dog but I didn't mind. He was just a sweet teddy bear that would go into flight mode instead of fight mode. He was very timid around everyone and would run behind me for cover. My little boy would enjoy nibbling on rope toys and his stuffed penguin. He and Dakota would wrestle all the time and lose for the most part but that never stopped him from trying.

I watch videos and view photos. I don't think it really set in yet. My baby boy ... then I remember.

"He didn't make it."

Oh, I almost forgot how he enjoyed country music.
How adorable is that?

Oh and he hated hair dryers! He wasn't fans of vacuums, swifters, brooms, or anything that seemed to move quickly or near him.

Ha, the first couple of times, I would keep their leashes on while giving them a bath. Realized it was easier to get into the tub to wash both of them at the same time and stopped using the leash after that.

I can't imagine them apart.
It hurts me to think that now they are.

They loved going out for their walks together.

Jonah hardly barked.
He only barked because he thought
I forgot it was time to take him out.

He enjoyed running around the pool.
He was a very thirsty dog
so he must have thought that the pool
was a huge bowl of water just for him and Dakota!

I was so thrilled to get to the point
where I could let him off on his own during walks.
I'll keep him tied to Dakota's leash just in case though.
Just in case he got away, being tied to Dakota would impede him.

I have more videos on my computer at home.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I'm still waiting for a phone call.

I'm still waiting...

I love you my sweet Jonah.

A friend told me, "remember all dogs go to heaven."

What was I doing before I heard the news?
Looking for humane animal box traps to purchase to catch Jonah.
I then heard that he got hit by a car
and he was taken to the vet.
So for five minutes, I'm thinking at least we found him
and he can recover so I'll get to see him
when I fly back down in a couple days.

Then I find out...

"He didn't make it."
